Hello!

I'm Tanya. I don't like talking in the third person, so apologies if you were expecting that.

I'm a multidisciplinary artist- Hair/Make Up/Nail Artist, Writer, Voice Over Artist, and occasional model. I also run a home salon, Hello Tanya Nails.

I've been working as a make up artist for over 14 years now, having trained at London based make up school, Greasepaint in 2008. Work has ranged from make up for the West End, feature films, countless music videos, short films, TVCs, TV shows and several editorials for both print and online. 

I take pride in my passion, creativity, attention to detail, focusing on making skin look amazing, and making people feel good!

Adding nail technician training at Monaco Nail Academy in 2012 might have been the best thing I've ever done!  I love nail art- at any time of the day, I'm probably thinking about it or being inspired by something I could maaaybe paint on a nail. I've been lucky enough to do nails for celebrities such as Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Ruby Rose, Giorgio Armani: Acqua Di Gioia Perfume Campaign (2013), successful pop ups all over Auckland, and session nail artist for several editorials, television and print. 

In 2020, I started contributing to Ensemble Magazine as a beauty writer and slowly added some features, which has led to articles in Sunday Magazine and Stuff, as well as moderating a size inclusivity panel during Fashion Week.

And in 2022, in an attempt to pivot and upskill during the pandemic, when high-touch services like make up and nails became difficult to navigate, attended the NZ Voice Academy, and have added Voice Over to my skillset.

I'm an incredibly patient person and a little goofy. I'm half Singaporean Chinese, half New Zealander and grew up in Hong Kong. I have an American accent, which can get quite confusing. I have an elderly tuxedo cat named Rodney, a one year old puppy/gremlin named Delilah, and I have a high-key passion for body neutrality, fat fashion and fat representation.
